long ago, my daughter was born in a small hospital, on a back street in Santa Rosa, California. She was tiny and premature. I lived in a VW bus in their parking lot, which was in a walnut grove. Every 3 hours I went into the hospital and attempted to nurse her. I was 21 years old, and 3,000 miles from my family. Now that I have seen how premature babies are cared for, I realize that we had the worst imaginable care. Basically none. Still she lived and is still one of my very best friends!

Besides seeing in stories and being thrilled when I can bring a story into visual form, I have delighted in helping other people create. some of my happiest times have been doing art projects in schools. I worked with a wonderful art teacher and a great group of kids in a local high school for 4 years on big projects. One of them, was a book that we called “Honoring Our Roots” In which we each did a short essay, and some kind of picture about a treasured person. I contributed the 2 pages below.

bringing a picture out of memory or imagination onto a piece of paper thrills me. the picture and memory of my Grandmother, was done as part of a class with ESL adult students in which we drew and discussed foods that made us happy and how they helped us remembered happy times.

Next to making someone laugh or smile with one of my pictures. I love helping people of all ages succeed in telling a picture story of their own.

For the first time I published a book on Amazon. It tells an almost true story of a rescue cat in Brooklyn. It has pen and ink drawing that can be colored if the reader wants to, or just enjoyed as is. there are also activity pages after the story for young readers to interact with………….here is the link to purchase! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09S69MFD7?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860
